Since Voices first began working in the Colomoncagua refugee camps in Honduras, we have fostered relationships between our Salvadoran partners and individuals, communities, and organizations in the U.S.
Based on the spirit of solidarity, accompaniment, and equality, these relationships benefit all involved. The U.S. partner communities provide their Salvadoran counterparts with the moral, material, and political support they need to achieve just and equitable development.
Our Salvadoran partner communities reciprocate by sharing with their U.S. counterparts the values and culture of the “campesino” lifestyle, as well as the realities associated with living in rural and often marginalized communities in El Salvador.
These relationships are the key to Voices' success. If you would like to consider developing a partner relationship with a Salvadoran community, or would like more information on one of our existing partner communities, please contact Thomas R. Hughes at voices@votb.org or (202) 529-2912.
