In February 2008, SBSC embarked on their annual pilgrimage to El Salvador. The delegation began their visit in San Salvador, where they met with Human Rights Ombudsman Oscar Luna, officials from USAID and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and others to better understand current issues and U.S. foreign policy in El Salvador. They then traveled to their partner community, La Canoa (Comunidad Octavio Ortiz), in the Lower Lempa, where they met with community leaders, and visited United Communities, the Center for Infant Development and a number of other projects their community supports.
This was the 25th SBSC delegation that Arlene Schaupp has led to El Salvador! Thank you Arlene for your leadership and commitment to social justice!
