We need volunteers to assist us in researching and repiorting on issues that affect our Salvadoran partners. The information is necessary for ensuring that our projects and activities are addressing our partners' needs in an effective and efficient manner, and that citizens in the U.S. are well-informed.
We are currently researching and reporting on issues such as:
- Public health
- Environmental degradation
- Economic development
- 2009 Salvadoran elections
- and others.
Such investigations and research often require volunteers to travel to El Salvador to meet with local partners and other stakeholders, visit communities, and gather relevent materials. Its a great way to promote just and equitable development while getting to know El Salvador and our inspirational partners.
Most recently a student from the George Washington University Women's Studies Program spent a semester researching women's sexual and reproductive health in El Salvador and the Lower Lempa of Usulutan. Her research included a 10-day trip to El Salvador to conduct interviews and hold focus groups to learn about relevent customs and issues. We are using her report to develop an education program with the Salvadoran Association of Public Health.
