Voices is always traveling to El Salvador and we'd love for you to join us.
Reading or hearing about social justice issues, or how our Salvadoran partners have accomplished so much in the face of such adversity is one thing. It's another to travel to El Salvador and stay with families in rural communities, meet with human rights and government officials in San Salvador, and learn first hand about the issues of the day by the people who are experiencing them.
Our Salvadoran partners continue to struggle against the same barriers to justice and equality that have existed for generations and persist in countries throughout the global south. Though cultures and histories change across countries and regions, issues such as education, economic and social inequality, public participation, a healthy environment, and many others have the same devestational impacts.
Visiting El Salvador and learning about these issues, their root causes, and how U.S. foreign and domestic policies influence them will provide you with an insight that is applicable to countries around the world.
More importantly, our local partners and the families you'll meet are inspiring. Experiencing the grace, honor, and hospitality found in rural El Salvador can be life-changing.
We offer two ways for you to travel with us to El Salvador:
1. Delegations
Voices leads an average of five or six delegations from the U.S. to El Salvador. These delegations are either organized around our U.S. partner communities or specific issues such as the 15th Anniversary of the Peace Accords, Environmental Justice, Youth Leadership and others.
We also organize delegations with Universities and student groups around specific topics and issues.
2. Volunteer Research
Voices' staff researches development and social justice issues that affect our Salvadoran partners - and we can always use assistance.
if you are interested in joining us on a delegation, or helping us with research, contact Thomas R. Hughes at voices@votb.org or (202) 271-5881.
